How to Plant a Moss Micro-landscape

 1、pumice

  • Use the lightweight stones from the packaged bag as the base layer for the drainage layer. Lay the base layer tightly with a thickness of 2-3cm.
  • Glass bottles, unlike regular flower or plant pots, do not have the natural permeability and breathability. Therefore, the most crucial aspect inside the moss ecology bottle is to establish an effective drainage layer.
  • Hold the bottle with your left hand to tilt it. Use your other hand to insert a soil spoon filled with lightweight stones into the bottle. When the spoon is near the bottom of the bottle, slowly pour the lightweight stones to avoid causing damage to the flat bottom due to excessive height.

 2、Water moss

  • Place a layer of sphagnum moss from the packaged bag on top of the drainage layer of lightweight stones, also known as the isolation layer. Its main function is to prevent the substrate from prolonged watering in the future from penetrating into the underlying drainage layer, ensuring that the drainage layer retains its ability to bear excess moisture.
  • Use tweezers to evenly place and tightly spread, covering the lightweight stones completely. Gently press it down, and then moisten it with water to ensure it absorbs moisture thoroughly.

3、The special soil

  • In the packaged bag, special soil mixed with insect repellent and slow-release fertilizer is used. Place an appropriate amount of special soil into the bottle, shaping it according to the desired contour with highs and lows. Then, spray an adequate amount of water until the soil can be clumped in your hand, and water stains begin to emerge.
  • If there are soil particles adhering to the bottle wall, you can spray water to clean them off.
  • Properly nurturing the soil is crucial for plant growth. The special soil for tender leaves and delicate flowers has suitable pH levels, good moisture retention, and a certain amount of nutrients.

4、plant

  • For positioning foliage plants, gently use tweezers to dig small holes. Insert the accompanying plant, along with its original root system, into the pre-dug hole. At this point, use a soil spoon or your fingers to lightly press down on the roots and cover the surrounding soil over the root area, ensuring it stands upright and firmly in place.
  • This step, if not handled properly, can easily damage the plant's root system, making it less likely to survive. Please proceed with caution and patience.

5、moss

  • Take out the assembled moss, place it in your palm, and use a small brush to gently remove debris from its surface. Spray some water on both the surface and the roots, following the principle of starting with the larger sections before moving to the smaller ones. Lay it out in an orderly and connected manner, ensuring tight and natural seams. Finally, use small pieces of moss or gently break larger pieces by hand into small sections to fill narrow gaps. Press the moss gently with your hand or a soil spoon until it is compact and smooth.
  • The moss provided to you has been specially treated for easy preservation and is in a dry state. After spraying water, it will gradually revive, activate, and turn green within 20 minutes.

6、 decoration

  • The sequence is to install and arrange decorative accessories, lay down pebbles, place props and figurines, and spread the blue sand. Finally, water the roots of foliage plants adequately, spray water on the moss, and wipe the inner and outer walls of the bottle clean.
  •   You've accomplished a great feat! Quickly take photos and share your achievements with your friends.
